I was born on June 27,1958 in Los Angeles, CA. I am the second oldest child of my parents, Allen and Lillian Carter and the older of my two sisters. At a very early age I demonstrated an unusual curiosity about the medical care of others.
There was an elderly neighbor who lived a few doors from our home who was sick and very feeble. I had great empathy and I would ask permission from my mother to visit her. I assisted her in getting in and out of the bath. She would give me ten cents per night for doing so. I would save those dimes until I had enough to buy something that I wanted. I soon realized that I was helping her and being paid for the help I was providing.
I attended Morningside High School in Inglewood, CA. At Morningside I enrolled in a Certified Nursing Attendant Program. That was a defining moment for me and the beginning of my pursuit of a nursing career. After high school I attended a Licensed Vocational School and received my LVN license. Upon completion I began work at local Skilled Nursing Facilities. It was not long before my desire and enthusiasm for the nursing profession compelled me to enroll in the Associates Degree in Nursing Program (ADN), at El Camino College in Torrance, CA.
I continued my studies and received my license as a Registered Nurse. I became a Public Health Nurse working for local churches; checking blood pressure, conducting educational seminars on High Blood Pressure, medication management and administering immunizations to adults. Again, I returned to school and received a Bacheloras Degree in Nursing from the University of Phoenix. I later enrolled in University of Phoenix Masteras Program where my Degree is pending. Currently I am the Administrator and Director of Patient Care Services for Los Robles Home Health Care Services, where I have been employed for the past ten years. I am responsible for sixty Professional Clinicians. We provide care for over four hundred and fifty patient daily. I am a business entrepreneur and own a home based business, Plexus Slim. Plexus Slim is a weight loss supplement management program. I am also the owner of Nursing Boot Camp, which is a program designed to mentor nurses new to the profession.
I am an active participant in the church, teaching and sharing scripture on a regular basis.
